Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Onboarding Guide

IRISNDT strongly encourages the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app. Other forms of 2-factor authentication such as text messaging (SMS) will be removed towards the end of 2024.

Set Up 2-Step Verification

Effective Date: March 30, 2020

Requirement: Mandatory for all employees

To enhance the security of your @irisndt.com account, IRISNDT has mandated the use of 2-step verification, also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This additional security measure is not optional and must be set up before March 30, 2020. Begin the setup process by visiting http://aka.ms/mfssetup.

Note: We strongly recommend setting up multiple verification methods. For instance, if you travel frequently, consider using the Microsoft Authenticator app. This app is the easiest verification method to use and helps you avoid text or call charges.

Why Use 2-Step Verification?

By setting up 2-step verification, you add an extra layer of security to your account. This process requires you to sign in with your password (the first step) and a code sent to your phone, an authentication app, or an alternate email (the second step). This ensures that even if your password is compromised, your account remains protected.

Recommended Verification Methods

Primary Method Recommendation:

  • Microsoft Authenticator App: This app allows you to approve sign-in requests directly, without the need to enter confirmation numbers or access an alternate email address.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

  1. Sign In to Office 365

Use your work or school account and your password to sign in as usual. After selecting Sign In, you will be prompted to set up 2-step verification.
